Use the scientific calculator for practice
The Calculator tab includes arithmetic precedence, parentheses, powers, roots, logarithms, trigonometry in DEG or RAD, memory, and recent calculations. Check the angle mode and expression before interpreting a result. These tools are part of the app’s learning experience.
Work with time value of money
Finance tools can solve for present value, future value, payment, number of periods, or rate. Inputs distinguish the calculation’s period, and payments can be set at the beginning or end. Match the rate and number of periods before comparing your answer with an explanation.
Explore cash-flow and bond tools
NPV and IRR tools work with cash-flow inputs, with nonconventional patterns that can have multiple IRRs rejected with an explanation. Fixed-coupon bond tools calculate price or yield using coupon-date assumptions and whole remaining coupon periods. They are simplified learning tools, not a model of every market convention.
Keep practice separate from exam equipment
Quiz screens provide a calculator shortcut, and the quiz timer continues while it is open. An in-app calculator does not establish that a device or tool is permitted in an official exam. Check CFA Institute’s current calculator and exam-device policies directly before test day. This page describes app features, not financial advice.
Questions before you start
Does the quiz timer pause in the calculator?

Is this an approved exam calculator?
